Alexei Likhachev, director general (DG) of Russian state-owned nuclear energy corporation Rosatom, is coming to Dhaka today to discuss the progress of the Rooppur nuclear power plant project with the interim government.
Md Touhid Hossain, foreign affairs adviser, confirmed that on Tuesday while addressing an event marking the 50th anniversary of Russian House in Dhaka.
He said: “Rosatom DG will come to Dhaka on 26th February to discuss the progress of the Rooppur nuke power plant project.”
Referring to the upcoming visit of Rosatom's director general to Bangladesh on Wednesday, the adviser expressed hope that the visit would provide an opportunity to review the further progress of the plant's construction.
According to the ministry sources, the DG will stay here for two days. During his visit, he will meet the Dr Muhammad Yunus, chief adviser to interim government.”
Besides, Likhachev will meet Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, power and energy adviser.
However, he is scheduled to visit the Rooppur nuke power plant site on 27th of February.
