A Dhaka court on Tuesday imposed a travel ban on former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Nur Mohammad and his wife Ismat Ara Begum.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain (Galib) issued the order following a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on February 20.
According to the petition, Nur Mohammad and his wife Ismat Ara Begum amassed illegal wealth worth Tk 542.70 crore and laundered the money abroad. An investigation is underway against the couple.
The petition further said that reliable sources have indicated that Nur Mohammad and his wife Ismat Ara Begum are attempting to leave the country.
