A total of 16 accused including 11 former ministers of the fascist Awami League government are scheduled to be produced at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Tuesday, reports BSS.
The 16 accused, who are scheduled to be produced at the tribunal are- Anisul Huq, Amir Hossain Amu, Shajahan Khan, Advocate Qamrul Islam, Lt Col (Retd) Faruk Khan, Dipu Moni, Dr Abdur Razzaque, Rashed Khan Menon, Hasanul Haq Inu, Kamal Ahmed Majumder, Golam Dastagir Gazi, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Salman F Rahman, Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik and former home secretary Md Jahangir Alam.
Confirming the matter to the media, prosecutor BM Sultan Mahmud said the tribunal on October 27 showed them arrested in a crimes against humanity case filed over the atrocities carried out by then-state machinery while trying to quell the student-led July-August mass uprising.
"Some of them had abetted Hasina under her superior command responsibility, while many had individual responsibility. People like Anisul Huq, Dipu Moni, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Mohammad A Arafat, Sajeeb Wazed Joy and Zunaid Ahmed Palak had individual responsibilities over the crimes," ICT chief prosecutor Muhammad Tajul Islam said earlier in the hearing of the case.
The chief prosecutor further said all the accused played their individual role in continuing the genocides, retaining the power of the Hasina regime. Despite being part of such barbarism, they had no remorse, Muhammad Tajul Islam added.
