BNP joint secretary general Khairul Kabir Khokon said, “Fascist Sheikh Hasina has fled. But the final victory has not yet been achieved. We must work together to bring back democracy.”
“This mass uprising is the fruit of our movement; so we will not let the blood of the martyrs go in vain. Democracy must be brought back through a single vote. The country cannot go further with an unelected government. Therefore, elections must be held soon,” he said.
He said this while speaking as the chief guest at the condolence meeting of late Advocate Jamal Sharif Hiru, a member of the BNP National Executive Committee, organized by the Late Advocate Jamal Sharif Hiru Smriti Parishad at the Panditsar High School ground in Naria Upazila of Shariatpur on Saturday afternoon.
He also said, “Hiru Bhai is a true leader of BNP. We remember his sacrifice with respect. Hiru Bhai's contribution to the movement against the autocratic Ershad and Hasina is memorable. Therefore, party leaders and activists should be ideological workers of martyred President Ziaur Rahman like Hiru Bhai.”
The former GS of DACSU said, “Whoever the people vote for will come to power. Therefore, if someone wants to form a party or run for election, they can resign from the government; I will welcome that. But if they want to become a monster government like the past while in power, the people will not accept it. The party should be organized and move forward unitedly under the leadership of national leaders Begum Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman. And we should keep a vigilant eye on the fact that the sacrifices are valued.”
