The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has allegedly erected electric pillars along the border in Patgram, Lalmonirhat, violating the International Border Act, according to the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Friday morning, reports UNB.
Local farmers discovered the electric pillars and associated equipment on Thursday afternoon while working in their crop fields in the Dhabalsuti area. Upon being notified, members of the BGB-61 Battalion swiftly arrived at the scene and confirmed the presence of the pillars and other materials.
According to the BGB and local sources, the BSF personnel erected the pillars on Tuesday night within 50 yards of the Zero Line, with the assistance of local civilians. The construction took place at sub pillar No. 2, beneath the main pillar 829, in Patgram Sadar union.
Mahbub Rahman, company commandant (subedar) of the BGB’s Dhabalsuti Camp in Patgram, confirmed the incident.
