President Mohammed Shahabuddin on Tuesday urged the Republic of Kosovo to import top-quality ready-made garments (RMG) and pharmaceutical products at affordable prices.
He made the call as the new ambassador of Kosovo to Bangladesh, Lulzim Pllana, presented his credentials to the president at Bangabhaban, reports BSS.
Receiving the credentials, the president emphasised the importance of frequent exchanges and interactions between the chambers of commerce and industry in both countries to promote trade and investment.
He also recalled the contributions of Bangladesh peacekeepers in the Kosovo Peacekeeping Mission (UNMIK) in maintaining peace and stability in Kosovo.
On the Ukraine crisis, the president expressed Bangladesh's deep concern about the war and urged all parties involved to seek a political solution to end the conflict.
The president thanked the Kosovo government for opening its diplomatic mission in Dhaka and noted that bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Kosovo have been excellent since then. Press Secretary Md Sarwar Alam shared this information with BSS, adding that the mission plays a crucial role in expanding ties between the two countries.
President Shahabuddin also urged Kosovo to recruit skilled workers from Bangladesh in various sectors.
During the meeting, Ambassador Pllana sought the president's cooperation in carrying out his duties in Bangladesh. He also mentioned that the Kosovo government is keen to provide more opportunities for Bangladeshi students to study in Kosovo.
Earlier, as part of the state ceremony, the ambassador was given a ‘guard of honor’ by the President Guard Regiment (PGR).
Secretaries concerned were present at the occasion.
