The interim government is responding positively while addressing passport issues aiming alleviation of expatriates’ measure. Like Bangladesh, expatriates will also receive an SMS when their passports are ready.
Besides, the speed of distributing passports left by the previous government has been increased.
Deputy press secretary to CA Abul Kalam Azad Majumder shared the information on Tuesday at a press conference held at the Foreign Service Academy on Bailey Road in the capital.
He said that the interim government has been working from the beginning to solve the passport problem of expatriates. From now on, there is no need to go to the embassy to know whether the passport has been prepared or not. SMS will be sent to the expatriate's number immediately after the passport is prepared.
Azad Majumder said that 197,000 MRP passport applications of expatriates from different countries were pending. Out of this, 182,745 passports have been printed in the last three weeks. They will reach the embassies very soon. Hopefully, everyone will get their passports within a month. The government wants to provide e-passports to expatriates from all countries, so work is underway for that.
