Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has accused the Awami League of engaging in a "vicious campaign" of violence and unrest nationwide. In a statement issued on Tuesday, Fakhrul alleged that even after the fall of the Awami League’s fascist regime in a historic student movement, its remnants continue to destabilize the country through targeted attacks and anarchy.
He specifically condemned the brutal assault on Abul Hossain, President of Narayanpur Union Krishakdal in Jessore, and his three sons. The victims were reportedly attacked with sharp weapons by armed groups allegedly linked to the Awami League and are now in critical condition. Fakhrul denounced the act as "barbaric and cowardly," urging the interim government to take decisive action against those responsible.
"The Awami League’s remnants remain a threat to national stability, undermining the current state of non-fascism," Fakhrul stated. He called for the immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of the perpetrators, emphasizing that such violence threatens democracy, governance, and public safety.
In a show of solidarity, leaders of the Nationalist Farmers Party, Hasan Zafir Tuhin and Shahidul Islam Babul, also condemned the attack, demanding justice for the victims and expressing support for their recovery.
Fakhrul concluded with a stern warning: "If these incidents are not addressed decisively, renewed instability is inevitable." He urged citizens and the government alike to take collective action to preserve peace, democracy, and security across the nation.
