Commerce Advisor Sheikh Bashir Uddin said in the last 15 years, the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) has been destroyed the most.
He said, “The previous government laundered about Tk 28 lakh crore. They’ve destroyed the institutions using the institutions as medium of laundering. Among these entities, TCB has been destroyed the most.”
The Commerce Advisor also said, “The damage that we have suffered in the last 15 years is that the institutional infrastructures have been destroyed. This has caused us a huge loss. A few people have stolen money. This is certainly an unimaginable matter for us as citizens of the country. Our institutions have been destroyed while committing such heists.
He said this at the Prize Giving Ceremony of IFRF-PRANA 2024 at the Economic Reporters Forum (ERF) office on Tuesday.
Sheikh Bashir Uddin said, “The biggest oil syndicate has escaped. However, you didn’t feel the impact that way.
Referring to the information in the white paper, the commerce advisor said that the white paper has already been published, which says that Tk 28 lakh crore has been laundered. This is equal to the national income of one and a half years if combined.
The event, chaired by ERF president Refayet Ullah Mirdha, was attended by the special guests including the Chief Advisor's press secretary Shafiqul Alam, PRAN RFL Group chairman Ahsan Khan Chowdhury and Bangladesh Journalists' Welfare Trust’s managing director Muhammad Abdullah.
