The UN Human Rights Office will hold a news conference on the OHCHR Fact-Finding Report: Human Rights Violations and Abuses related to the Protests of July and August 2024 in Bangladesh.
The press conference will be held at the Palais des Nations in Geneva today (Wednesday) at 09:30 local time (14:30 Dhaka time), according to a media release.
It said that the report and a news release will be issued prior to the news conference.
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk will deliver the opening remarks. The other panellists will be Rory Mungoven, chief of the Asia-Pacific Section, and Ravina Shamdasani, chief spokesperson.
The news conference will be broadcast live on UN Web TV for those wishing to listen only.
Journalists based in Bangladesh were asked to complete the registration process with Communications Specialist at the UN Resident Coordinator's Office in Bangladesh Tara Jayaram by Tuesday to be able to access the news conference via the Zoom app. Access is strictly limited to journalists.
For those who have registered, a link to the Zoom press conference will be shared one hour before the start of the news conference. Journalists must also ensure their full name and news organisation on their Zoom profile to access the news conference room.
