Dhaka Judge Court lawyer Md. Shafiqul Islam Sabuj Khan has sent a legal notice to immediately arrest Jatiya PArty chairman GM Quader, and his followers, who were accused in the murder case connected to the anti-discrimination student movement.
He sent the notice to the interim government's chief advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, home affairs advisor, IGP of police, DMP commissioner, Mirpur zone deputy commissioner (DC) and officer-in-charge (OC) of Mirpur model police station on Sunday.
They have been urged to take effective steps to arrest the accused within seven days of receiving the notice. Otherwise, legal decisions will be taken, said lawyer Md. Shafiqul Islam Sabuj Khan.
The legal notice says that looking at the former Hasina government's rule, it can be seen that Sheikh Hasina got the courage to hold one-party elections in in 2014, 2018 and the latest 2024 because of the Jatiya Party’s participation in those elections. Relying on the Jatiya Party, Sheikh Hasina santched the people's rights to votes and held elections without voters. The so-called homegrown party, the Jatiya Party, has looted freely in tune with the tone of tyranny. Therefore, they must also take responsibility for all the crimes.
The notice states that Jatiya Party is a national traitor and it played an important role in holding one-sided elections to stay in power through Sheikh Hasina. After Sheikh Hasina fled, Awami League MPs and ministers went to jail as accused in murder cases, but the Jatiya Party has not repented, but representing the fascist Awami League and conspiring to rehabilitate Sheikh Hasina.
In the notice, lawyer Sabuj Khan said, "Although the corrupt ministers and MPs of the Awami League have been arrested, the sacrifice of the martyrs is being dishonored as the ministers and the MPs of the Jatiya Party weren’t arrested despite of being accused. Although the law is equal for everyone, the question of not arresting the corrupt MPs and the ministers of Jatiya Party is hurling the public mind."
