BNP has expressed disappointment over the Chief Advisor's address to the nation as there was no roadmap for election in his speech. Speaking at a discussion held at the National Press Club on Monday morning, the party’s Secretary General, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, shared this sentiment.
Insinuating the era of Moeen Uddin and Fakhruddin, Mirza Fakhrul has warned that the government’s extended stay in power beyond a reasonable time could create misconceptions.
BNP Secretary General urged the government to arrange an election after necessary reforms.
The discussion was organized by the BNP to commemorate the 48th death anniversary of Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani. BNP leaders and activists, along with followers of Maulana Bhasani, attended the event. They remembered Bhasani's remarkable contributions to Bangladesh's independence struggle.
As the chief guest, Mirza Fakhrul highlighted that students were the main driving force of the movement. He also stressed the importance of maintaining close ties with them.
Commenting on the Chief Advisor’s speech delivered yesterday, Mirza Fakhrul stated that it failed to meet expectations. He emphasized that announcing the election would solve half the problems.
He further noted that those within the administration who support authoritarianism might attempt to obstruct reform initiatives. He called for unity to overcome such challenges.
