“BGB to become a symbol of border security and trust”, as part of this directive from the Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), a new school building constructed by the BGB in Punnamanichhara Para, a remote border area in the hilly region of Jurachhari Upazila, Rangamati, was officially inaugurated. During the event, educational materials were also distributed to the local students, marking a significant contribution to improving educational access in this underserved area.
On Monday, the newly constructed school in Punnamanichhara Para was officially inaugurated by Naib Subedar Md. Hasan Zahid, Camp Commander of Kachutali TOB under the BGB Kaptai Battalion (41 BGB), on behalf of Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Mohammad Tanzilur Rahman Bhuiyan. The ceremony began with the hoisting of the national flag, followed by the distribution of various educational materials, including notebooks, pens, and wooden pencils, to the 47 students enrolled at the school. Following the inauguration, the BGB officially handed over the responsibility of maintaining the school to local businessman Shanti Moy Chakma. The event was attended by BGB personnel from the Kaptai Battalion, as well as local parents and community leaders, highlighting the collaborative effort between the border security forces and the local community to support education in the remote region.
During his visit to the remote border area of Kachutali TOB on July 30, 2024, Lt. Col. Mohammad Tanzilur Rahman Bhuiyan, Commander of Kaptai Battalion (41 BGB) and Waggachhara Zone, engaged in discussions with local traders, BGB members, and residents of the hilly border region. In these discussions, the local community strongly voiced the need for a school in the Punnamanichhara area, which falls under the responsibility of Kachutali TOB. Responding to this request and in line with the BGB Director General's directive, “BGB will be a symbol of border security and trust,” the Kaptai Battalion and Waggachhara Zone launched the Harmony and Development Project to construct a school in Punnamanichhara Para. Located 111 km from the zone headquarters, the school will serve the educational needs of 55 families, including 47 from the Chakma community and 8 from the Tanchangya community, ensuring access to quality education for local boys and girls.
