The Netherlands, represented by its Embassy in Bangladesh, is launching a project in collaboration with the Centre for Governance Studies (CGS) to encourage the political involvement of women, youth, and marginalized communities, reports UNB.
The project aims to empower women and youth in Bangladesh’s politics through mentoring and leadership training.
A memorandum of understanding was signed on Thursday at the Embassy in Dhaka.
Ambassador Andre Karstens signed the MoU on behalf of the Netherlands, and Zillur Rahman, the Executive Director of CGS, signed on behalf of CGS.
During the signing ceremony, Ambassador Andre Karstens said the Netherlands has always pushed for gender inclusion and believes that real progress means making sure everyone-especially women and young people-has a voice.
"This project we’re launching is a big step in making that happen here in Bangladesh.”
Zillur Rahman, Executive Director of the Centre for Governance Studies (CGS), added, “We hope that this project will help foster spontaneous and competitive participation of women and young people in politics, bringing about greater equality.”
Also present at the event were Apon Zahir, Senior Research Associate at CGS; Depanjali Roy, Chief of Staff; and Sadia Tasnim, Research Associate, alongside First Secretary Cor Stouten and Senior Policy Advisor Namia Akhter from the Embassy.
