Maulana Mamunul Haque, secretary general of Khelafat Majlis, addressed followers at a rally in Sonargaon, Narayanganj, on Sunday, urging Awami League supporters to reflect on their actions.
He stated, "You (AL leaders and activists) should repent and vow not to engage in politics that favors the Awami League or follow the Sheikh family's legacy."
Haque criticized the Awami League for damaging their own reputation, citing the establishment of the Bangladesh Krishak Sramik Awami League (BaKSAL) and alleged genocidal acts in 2024.
He remarked on Sheikh Hasina's lengthy political career, accusing her of fostering a culture of vengeance against the Bangladeshi people, claiming she believes they are responsible for her father's death.
“Following his passing, she claims the public celebrated, emptying shops and distributing sweets. This, she argues, fuels her desire for revenge,” Mamunul Haque added.
Haque further alleged that leaders and members of all opposition parties have fallen victim to violence perpetrated by the Awami League, with Islamic scholars facing significant oppression.
He emphasized the sacrifices made by Islamic organizations in defense of their faith, stating, "We will continue to shed blood if necessary, but we will not tolerate any harm to Islam."
