Mahfuz Alam, the Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, informed the journalists at a press conference why Jatiya Party(JP) was not invited to a dialogue with Dr. Muhammad Yunus even though other political parties were invited.
He addressed the issue at a press conference held at the Foreign Service Academy on Saturday evening.
Mahfuz Alam said, “Jatiya Party was a silent supporter of Awami Fascism. By participating in the illegal election, they had given it some form of legitimacy. That is why we are not considering Jatiya Party at the moment.”
He further said, "The government is analyzing their(JP) stance closely. Any decisions will be based on further discussions and evaluations with other political parties. The government will not make the decision alone. The fact that JP was an ally of the fascists who supported genocide, standing against the mass people, was mentioned to the other political parties by the government.”
