Lagnajita Chakraborty is a singer from Indian Bangla. She gained immense popularity for singing the song " Basanto Eshe Geche " from the movie Chotushkone. But the singer's live performances have frequently been criticized, with people often mockingly claiming that her singing was off-key!
Lagnajita considered herself as an out-of-tune singer. She openly addressed this matter.
Recently, Lagnajita made a post on social media. The singer wrote, "I never practiced regularly since childhood. My father and teachers tried a lot, but it just didn’t work out. I started singing professionally in 2014. At that time, I would practice a little, but it was just a bit here and there."
Lagnajita wrote, "Listening to those, I realized how terribly I sing. Countless off-key notes, numerous standing notes, tail drops, breathing issues, and so much more!"
The singer wrote more, "And I would be amazed to see how in tune my seniors, juniors, and colleagues would sing compared to me. Out of frustration, I even stopped showing my own music videos. Even if someone played them, I would get annoyed because the off-key notes sounded like drums and cymbals in my ears."
During the pandemic, Lagnajita concentrated on practicing music. However, due to a lack of progress, she grew frustrated and discontinued her practice for a long time, as informed in her post.
Then, Lagnajita shared that for the first time, she received recognition as a singer from her parents. In her post, Lagnajita mentioned, "I had to sing a song by Salil Chowdhury at an event. My parents were also there as listeners. I listened to the video three times in a row, and strangely, I couldn’t find a single off-key note. I started in 2014, and now, in 2024, I am singing an entire song in tune. Ten years. Today, for the first time, my parents acknowledged me as an artist. They said, 'Today, you didn’t make a single mistake.'"
