A Dhaka court on Monday placed former law minister Anisul Huq on a 2-day fresh remand in a case filed over the killing of Swechasebak Dal leader Al Amin in the capital’s Badda area on August 5, reports UNB.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Nurul Huda passed the order after hearing a petition.
According to the court sources, the former minister was first produced before the court with an appeal to show him arrested in the case.
Upon the appeal, the court granted it and passed a remand order after hearing a petition seeking seven-day remand, said the sources.
Though the defendant’s lawyers appealed for bail, the court rejected it.
On August 5, police opened fire on a procession of students and people in the Badda area where the Swechasebak Dal leader sustained bullet injuries.
Later, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at a city hospital. A case was filed in this connection later.
