Agriculture and Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said on Saturday that there is no shortage of fertilizers and that the country has enough stock.
He said farmers can buy and use fertilizers as per their demand.
The adviser came up with the information while exchanging views on the activities of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC), and Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC) over reviewing the situation of the flood-hit districts and the rehabilitation of the flood-affected people.
Agriculture Secretary Dr Mohammad Emdad Ullah Mia, along with senior officials of the ministry and heads of various departments/organisations, was present in the meeting.
Adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said the process of fertilizers import remains normal and requested the people concerned not to buy or stock additional fertilizers fearing future crisis.
He also directed authorities concerned to complete the rehabilitation works of the flood-affected farmers with transparency.
