The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of West Bengal, India has formed a Special Investigation Team to be led by an IG, three DIGs and 10 to 12 other officers to probe the murder of Bangladeshi lawmaker Anwar Azim Anar.
Besides ensuring quick collection of digital evidence and forensic reports, the team will liaison with the Dhaka Metropolitan police and Interpol to track down the main accused, Md Akhtaruzzaman alias Shaheen, (who is hiding in the US) and his accomplice Md. Siam Hossain, who is hiding in Nepal, Times of India.
The team will be going to Nepal soon. The CID has now recovered the entire conversation between Celesty and Anar and have also realized that it was Siam who handled Anar’s Whatsapp messages after his murder.
It is in this regard that the CID has decided to request Dhaka Police to track down and send notice to another woman, who had accompanied Anar on his earlier visit to Kolkata this year. This woman, claimed sources, was found to be sharing messages with Celesty.
Anwarul Azim Anar murder suspect, Akhtaruzzaman, possibly fled Kathmandu to the US via Dubai. Bangladesh detectives aim to collaborate with Interpol and CID to locate him for legal action.
