The High Court on Wednesday cancelled a defamation case against BNP standing committee member former minister Dr Khandker Mosharraf Hossain, reports BSS.
A High Court bench comprising Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice Syed Enayet Hossain on Wednesday cancelled the case after hearing a petition moved by Dr Maruf Hossain, lawyer of Khandker Mosharraf Hossain.
After the hearing, Dr Maruf Hossain told the journalists that the HC in 2017 withheld the case and issued a rule in this regard. The High Court finally cancelled the case after dismissal of the rule.
The Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court of Dhaka on October 27, 2014 framed defamation charge against Dr Khandker Mosharraf Hossain.
One AB Siddiq, president of Janonetri Parishad on January 20 in 2013 filed a defamation case against Dr Khadker Mosharraf following a derogatory statement against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
The complainant told the lower court that Dr Khandker Mosharraf at a rally in front of National Press Club in 2012 said, "Sheikh Hasina would have to face the fate like 1975 if she tries to remain in power forcefully."
