Many people were reportedly injured as a passenger train hit a freight train at Hasanpur Railway Station under Nangalkot upazila of Cumilla on Sunday evening.
Six bogies of the Dhaka-bound Sonar Bangla Express train derailed in the clash.
The incident happened around 6:45 pm.
The rail communication between Dhaka and Chattagram remain suspended after the accident.
A top official of Bangladesh Railway on condition of anonymity said to the media that due to an error, Sonar Bangla Express was diverted from the main line to a line where the freight train was stationary.
