The polling began on Wednesday in Gaibandha-5 constituency by-polls amid tight security.
The voting has begun at 8:30am and will continue till 4:30pm without any break.
A total of 339,743 voters will cast their votes at 952 booths of 145 centres in all the 17 unions of the upazilas.
Earlier on October 12, the EC suspended the by-election midway in the wake of the massive irregularities in many polling centres.
There will also be a CCTV camera and the polling situation will be monitored from the EC building in Dhaka.
The candidates for the by-election are Awami League candidate Mahmud Hasan Ripon, Jatiya Party candidate AHM Golam Shaheed Ranju, Bikalpa Dhara candidate Advocate Jahangir Alam, independent candidate Nahiduzzaman Nishad and Syed Mahbubur Rahman.
The Gaibandha-5 constituency comprising Saghata and Phulchhari upazilas felt vacant following the death of Gaibandha-5 lawmaker and Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Fazle Rabbi Miah on July 22, 2022.
