The UAE has strongly condemned attacks by armed groups on Syrian security forces, reaffirming its commitment to Syria’s stability and sovereignty, reads a Khaleej Times post.
More than 70 people were killed, and dozens more injured, during clashes between government security forces and militants loyal to ousted ruler Bashar Al Assad, according to a war monitor. The violence erupted in the town of Beit Ana after residents blocked security forces from arresting a man accused of arms trading. In response, authorities launched a crackdown, leading to further confrontations.
In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated its support for Syria’s territorial integrity and expressed solidarity with the Syrian people. The ministry emphasized the UAE’s backing for efforts aimed at ensuring security, peace, and dignity for Syrians.
The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has also voiced firm support for Syria, with Secretary-General Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi stressing the regional bloc’s rejection of violence and terrorism. He reaffirmed the GCC’s commitment to Syria’s security, citing a recent Ministerial Council statement that condemned all acts aimed at destabilizing the country.
Albudaiwi expressed hope that stability and justice would prevail in Syria, enabling its people to pursue a future of peace and prosperity.
