At least nine people were killed late on Tuesday night in a road accident in the Thatta district of Pakistan's southern Sindh province, the rescue department told Xinhua on early Wednesday morning, reports BSS.
Sindh Integrated Emergency & Health Services said that a truck hit a van from the front near the Chillia area of Thatta.
All nine people on board in the van were killed on the spot after their vehicle was crushed by the speeding truck on the highway.
Police and rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted the bodies to a nearby hospital.
The deceased were on their way back to their homes in the southern port city of Karachi after finishing their picnic at the Keenjhar Lake in the district when the accident happened.
Police had registered a case against the truck driver who managed to run away from the site after the accident.
