Bangladesh continues to demonstrate its commitment to sustainable growth, with two new factories in the ready-made garment (RMG) sector earning Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification, despite the challenges of a global economic downturn.
The factories—Columbia Apparels Limited and Banga Fashion Limited—are both located in Gazipur. With their inclusion, Bangladesh now has a total of 237 LEED-certified factories, including 95 platinum and 128 gold-certified facilities.
Notably, 63 of the world’s top 100 highest-rated LEED-certified factories are located in Bangladesh. According to the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Columbia Apparels earned a gold rating with 77 points, while Banga Fashion achieved a platinum rating with 87 points.
