Nine investors of Beximco Ltd have been fined Tk428.52 crore, the highest financial penalty in the country’s stock market history, for manipulating the share price of the company, reports Daily Sun.
The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) took the decision in this regard in its 924th meeting held Tuesday, it said in a press statement.
Among the penalised investors, four are individual investors and the remaining five are institutional investors.
Mosfequr Rahman has been fined Tk125 crore, Momatazur Rahman Tk58 crore, Abdur Rouf Tk31 crore and Marzana Akter Tk30 crore.
Among the institutional investors, Crescent Ltd has been fined Tk73 crore, Art International Ltd Tk70 crore, Jupiter Business Ltd Tk22.59 crore, Apollo Trading Ltd Tk15 crore and Tradenext International Ltd Tk4.1 crore.
