Jewellers have inflated the price of gold by Tk1,516 to Tk1,24,501 per bhori due to a hike in the price of pure gold in the local market.
The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) made the decision at a meeting held on Tuesday.
The price of 22-carat gold will now be Tk1,24,501 per gram, and 21-carat Tk1,18,832 per gram, read a press release signed by the committee chairman, Masudur Rahman.
The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk1,01,862 a gram while that of traditional gold at Tk84,214 per gram.
New tariffs would come into effect on Wednesday, the release added.
However, prices of silver remained unchanged.
