Abu Syed, the first martyr of the July-August uprising, has passed the written examination for teachers’ registration.
Syed, a student of the English Department at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur, sat for the examination just a couple of days before he was shot dead by the police during the quota reform movement on 16 July.
The Non-Government Teachers’ Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA) on Monday published the test results.
Abu Sayed was among the 83,865 people who aced the test.
The written examination for the Teachers’ Registration was held on 12-13 July, when the movement demanding quota reform was gaining momentum. Sayed was a leader of the movement at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur as well as in the northern region.
Abu Syed passed HSC in 2018 with GPA-5 from Rangpur Government College. In 2020, he enrolled into the English Department at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur. He was a student of 12th batch of that department.
