In the ten months during July 2023-April 2024, foreigners sent total $130.58 million of their income generated in Bangladesh to their home countries, Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali told the parliament on Monday, reports Daily Sun.
The Bangladesh Bank has no data on the money foreigners earn in Bangladesh, the finance minister added making it impossible to learn the share of foreigners’ income sent abroad and the amount they kept within Bangladesh.
Indians topped the list sending $50.60 million home followed by the Chinese remitting $14.56 and the Sri Lankans remitting $12.71.
The finance minister provided the data in response to a written query placed at the parliament by lawmaker AK Azad.
