Bangladesh Jeweller's Association (BAJUS) President Sayem Sobhan Anvir has urged the chief of the police to strengthen the security of jewellery shops across the country during the holidays, marking Eid-ul-Azha.
The BAJUS president made the call in a letter sent to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun on 12 June.
In the letter, he said as markets and shops in the country remain closed due to the long Eid holidays, there is a high possibility of various unwanted incidents, including theft and robbery, at this moment.
“In such a context, jewellers are very concerned about the security of their business establishments.”
Sayem Sobhan Anvir called on the IGP to ensure round-the-clock security at jewellery markets and establishments all over Bangladesh and increase vigilance for the purpose during the Eid holidays.
