Labour and Employment Secretary A.H.M Shafiquzzaman said that the Walton has a special connection with the ministry as it employs a significant number of people, creates skilled manpower and contributes the overall economy.

Shafiquzzaman on Thursday evening made these remarks while inaugurating the Walton Computer Divisional IT Fair as the chief guest of a function held at ECS Computer City at Multiplan Center in the capital.

He said, “The Walton is specially involved with the Ministry of Labour and Employment as a large number of people are getting employment through Walton. It is creating skilled manpower and making important contributions to the overall economy of Bangladesh.”

“It manufactures electronics and technology products including refrigerators, ACs, TVs, which used to cost a lot of foreign currency to import. Through this, huge amount of foreign currency is being saved,” he continued.

Moreover, Walton products are currently being exported to 44 countries in 4 continents. As a result, our foreign exchange reserves are increasing.

Appreciating Walton’s Computer Exchange offer, The Secretary said, “This initiative helps e-waste management as well as customers are getting special discounts on buying new Walton products in exchange of their old or damaged products. He urged everyone to use products manufactured by domestic brands. It will decrease our import dependency, boost domestic industrialization and create more employment.”
