From now on, Dhaka city dwellers will receive partial traffic services through the National Emergency Service 999, according to a notification issued by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Tuesday.
The DMP’s Traffic Division has introduced this service to ease public suffering caused by heavy traffic on various city roads due to meetings, agitations, and sit-in demonstrations that block roads, reports BSS.
With the new system in place, people can obtain real-time traffic updates through the National Emergency Service 999, which will significantly help commuters reach their destinations on time.
They will also receive information about sit-ins, strikes, blockades, meetings, and processions that may lead to road closures or restrictions.
Additionally, by calling 999, people can access information about alternative routes where traffic is flowing smoothly.
