A man was killed in a road accident at Patkhelghata on the Khulna highway in Tala upazila of the district on Tuesday, reports BSS.
The deceased was identified as Jafar Morol, 75, of Shkadaha village of the upazila.
Quoting locals, police said the accident occurred when a Jashore-bound goods-laden truck hit a bicycle in the area, leaving Jafar critically injured.
Locals rescued him and sent him to Satkhira Medical College Hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.
However, the driver of the truck managed to escape from the spot.
