Bashundhara Kings, the current title holder, emerged Group A champions to reach the qualifier -1 of the Federation Cup Football 2024-25 outplaying Dhaka Wanderers Club by 5-0 goal at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla on Tuesday.
In the day's match, Brazilian booter Miguel Damaseno put the Kings ahead in the 18th minute (1-0) while Sohel Rana Sr doubled the margin in the 40th minute (2-0) to dominate the first half 2-0.
Kings took a 3-0 lead in the 55th minute by a gifted goal when Wanderers booter Russel sent the ball to his own net (3-0).
Sohel Rana Jr further widen the Kings margin scoring the 4th goal in the 70th minute while defender Topu Barman sealed the fate of the match netting the 5th goal in the 77th minute.
The day's other match between Brothers Union Club and Bangladesh Police FC ended in a goalless draw at the Rafiquddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh on Tuesday.
With the day's well merited victory, Bashundhara Kings finished Group A champions securing nine points from four group matches.
Both the Brothers Union Club and Fortis FC have secured seven points each after playing all the four Group A matches, but Brothers Union finished group runners up to reach the qualifiers 2 by virtue of head to head advantage, beating Fortis earlier.
Bashundhara Kings will now play Group B champions either Dhaka Abahani Ltd or Rahmatganj MFS to reach the final.
In Group B, Rahmatganj MFS and Dhaka Abahani Limited maintained all–win run to reach the play-off stage (qualifiers/eliminator) with one match to spare and will meet each other on February 4 to decide the group champions.
