Bangladesh Women's team pacer Jahanara Alam said her comeback to the side could have been memorable one had the Tigresses clinched the first T20 International against Ireland, reports BSS.
Once a star bowler, who played Women's IPL at regular basis, Jahanara was out of the side due to dip of her form. Recently she made the cut in the T20 World Cup squad for Bangladesh but didn't get an opportunity to play.
However she got the opportunity to make a comeback into the side when she was drafted for the first T20 match against. Her performance, however, was not noteworthy as she took just one wicket for 35 runs in four overs. Bangladesh eventually lost the game by 12 runs.
"Everything was fine but it's not that everything will happen according to your desire," Jahanara said in Sylhet on Friday.
"Whatever is written in your destiny will happen. I am quite happy to be able to return to the team. But I cannot be too happy, because the result of the first match did not go in our favor."
She however said that Bangladesh have the ability to win the series despite losing the first game.
"We lost the first game but our start was good. Our top order played well with willow. Considering that, I believe we can win the series and we all have that belief," she remarked.
After sweeping the ODI series, Bangladesh hoped to inflict a whitewash on the Irish in three-match T20 series too but that was not to be.
"I thought if we start well and use the power play well, then it is possible to chase 170-run target. We scored 100 runs in 11 overs, so we were in control," Jahanara said.
"Our opening pair played tremendously well and we were optimistic to win the game. Then we experienced a collapse. Certainly there were some mistakes from our part. We have to address it before the second game. But I hope we'll comeback strongly in the next match."
