Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto has reached his career-high in the ICC ODI batting rankings, moving up 11 spots to secure the 23rd position.
Shanto scored a match-winning 76 in the second ODI against Afghanistan before sustaining a groin injury while fielding during the match. His current career rating is 604.
The latest ICC rankings updated on Wednesday also showcases progress for Mehidy Hasan, who has climbed nine places to attain 23rd in the ODI bowling rankings.
The all-rounder has advanced to fourth in the all-rounder rankings, with Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi holding on to the top spot.
Apart from them, Mahmudullah moved up 10 spots in the batting rankings to secure the 44th position thanks to his 98-run innings in the third ODI, while another veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim slipped to the 30th position from 23rd. Liton Kumer Das has also slipped eight positions to 64th.
In the bowlers’ department, Shoriful Islam slipped to the 34th position from 24th after the Afghanistan series, while Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed moved up six and one spots to 36th and 39th positions respectively.
Meanwhile, Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi earned recognition for his standout performances in the recent series against Australia. Afridi reclaimed the No. 1 position in the ODI bowling rankings, surpassing South Africa's spinner Keshav Maharaj.
