The 22nd triennial national conference of the oldest political party of the subcontinent Awami League will be held on Saturday, where everyone's eyes will be on who will be the next general secretary of the party.

At present, Obaidul Quader, who has served for two consecutive terms, will stay for another term or Sheikh Hasina will choose someone new as running mate - Millions of leaders and workers of the organization are waiting to see the surprise.

This is discussed inside and outside the party. Everything will be clear in the second session of the conference on Saturday afternoon. Earlier in the morning, Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the conference.

The policy makers of the party said that there is no question that Sheikh Hasina will remain as the president. As always, this time also the councilors coming from all over the country will hand over the management of Awami League to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. She is one of the most skilled politicians of the subcontinent, will be elected unopposed for the tenth time as the president.

Then she will be given the responsibility of arranging the entire team of the executive parliament along with his running mate general secretary.

After the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, various conspiracies started in the country's existence and politics. Later in February 1981, in the absence of Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina, she was elected as the president of the organization in the National Council of Awami League.

As a result, she has been serving as the president of the party for 42 consecutive years. After taking charge of the party, she made Awami League one of the most powerful political parties in the Asian continent due to his singular leadership and image.

Sheikh Hasina brought Awami League to state power four times. All the success of Bangladesh after Bangabandhu has come from the hands of her. The second session will be conducted by the election management committee formed on the occasion of the conference.

First, Bangabandhu’s daughter will propose her name, another will support. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be elected unopposed as there is no candidate for the post of Chairperson.

Then, on her advice, one would similarly propose, another would support as the next General Secretary. After the general secretary is elected, the names of the presidium members, the party's highest policy-making forum, can be announced on that stage.

After that, the names of the members of the editorial board including the joint general secretary, organizational secretary of the party will be announced. Similarly the names of the members of the Executive Council may be announced.

The leaders of the party said, this time in the selection of the leader, along with political skills, qualifications, experience, acceptance at all levels of the party is being considered.

Along with this, there are also thoughts about what kind of impact the changes in important positions can have on politics just one year before the 12th National Parliament elections.

Apart from this, various issues including national parliament elections, election situation, dealing with the opposition party on the streets are being taken into consideration.

In this case, star leaders who have nationwide recognition and are accepted by the workers can also be brought to party positions this time. Twelve sub-committees have been formed to make the party's 22nd National Conference a success. Of these, 11 sub-committees are meeting continuously on a daily basis. All preparations have been completed.

The names of the councilors as representatives of the district have also been finalised. The councilor cards will be delivered to the district leaders on Friday at separate booths in the Dhanmondi office of the party president. The subcommittee members are working to make the conference a success.

Awami League presidium member and convener of finance sub-committee Kazi Zafar Ullah visited the stage at historic Suhrawardy Udyan on Tuesday afternoon.

Talking to reporters, Qazi Zafar Ullah said that after the first session, there will be a break for prayers and food before the second session. Only then will a new committee be formed based on the opinion of 7 thousand councilors in our second session. We will all be waiting for that.

He was accompanied by stage decoration sub-committee convener and presidium member of the party Jahangir Kabir Nanak, member secretary Mirza Azam.

Apart from them, Awami League presidium member Abdur Rahman, Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nashim, Science and Technology Minister Yafes Osman, Water Resources Deputy Minister Enamul Haque Shamim, Awami League Liberation War Affairs Secretary Mrinal Kanti Das, Cultural Secretary Asim Kumar Ukil, Science and Technology Secretary Abdus Sabur, Forest and Environment Secretary Delwar Hossain, Law Secretary Najibullah Hiru, Central Committee Member ABM Riazul Kabir Kauchar, Sanjida Khanam, Sahabuddin Faraji, Azizus Samad Azad Don, Syed Abdul Awal Shamim, Whip Iqbalur Rahim, BCL former president Mainuddin Hasan Chowdhury, former general secretary Ishaq Ali Khan Panna, Nazrul Islam Babu, Mahfuzul Haider Chowdhury Roton, Siddiqui Nazmul Alam, former president Saifur Rahman Sohag, former general secretary SM Zakir Hossain and other leaders and former BCL leaders were present.
