The crime thriller "Shaan," directed by M Rahim and starring Siam Ahmed and Puja Cherry, was released during Eid-ul-Fitr 2022 and achieved success in theaters and on OTT platforms. It is now ready to premiere on Indian television as "Arjun: The Super Cop" on Zee Bangla Cinema, airing on November 10.
Viewers are expressing confusion over the title change from "Shaan" to "Arjun." In the comments section of a teaser posted on Zee Bangla Cinema's Facebook page, many have questioned the reasoning behind the rebranding, reports The Daily Star.
Additionally, not only has the movie's title been altered, but the original voices of Siam and Puja will also be replaced by voice actors from West Bengal.
M Rahim commented on the situation in an interview with Ajker Patrika, stating, "The Production Company and distributor can provide a clear explanation. The film was previously dubbed in Hindi and Tamil, but I am not familiar with the specifics regarding the Bengali dubbing."
Siam Ahmed also expressed his surprise at the name change, explaining, "To my knowledge, the rights to 'Shaan' were sold in several languages, including Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. Ultimately, it's up to them how they choose to present the film. I believe this change might be intended to attract a wider Indian audience, and there could be complexities related to the title."
In the meantime, Siam will be seen in another film titled "Jongli," directed by M Rahim, which is set to release soon. He will appear with Shobnom Bubly and Prarthana Fardin Dighi in this project. Rahim has mentioned that the official release date for "Jongli" is anticipated to be announced on December.
