A Dhaka court on Monday dismissed a petition submitted for cancelling the case filed against actress Pori Moni under the Narcotics Control Act, reports UNB.
Judge Mohammad Nazrul Islam of the Special Judge's Court-10 of Dhaka passed the order after her lawyer Nelanjona Refat (Surovi) submitted an application.
In the petition, the lawyer said the stipulated time for completing the trial in the case has already expired. So, the case should be cancelled as the court failed to dispose of it within the stipulated 135 working days.
In response, the prosecution said it is not mandatory to dispose of the case within 120 working days. So, the petition should be rejected.
Upon hearing both sides, the court ordered the dismissal of the application for cancellation of the proceedings.
It also set December 15 for the next hearing of the case.
