Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs minister Dipen Dewan has resigned. It is reported that he has resigned due to physical illness.
The Prime Minister's additional press secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon confirmed his resignation, reports Channel 24.
Dipen Dewan submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Monday.

In his resignation letter, Dipen Dewan has said that he has been suffering from various physical complications since taking charge. Due to illness, various poblems were arising in the regular works of the ministry. He is resigning from the post to increase the dynamics of the development and administrative works of the current government.
63-year-old Dipen Dewan was the BNP candidate for the Rangamati Hill Tracts constituency in the 13th parliamentary election. He won with the largest margin of votes among the elected members of parliament.
Dipen Dewan became a minister after becoming a member of parliament for the first time. His father Subimal Dewan was the tribal affairs advisor to former President Ziaur Rahman.
Dipen Dewan joined the BNP in 2005, leaving the job of a joint district judge. He became the president of Rangamati District BNP in 2010. Since 2016, he has served as the joint secretary for religious affairs of the central BNP.
