174 more Bangladeshis have returned home from the Tajura Detention Center (detention camp) in Tripoli, the capital of the African country Libya.
They are returning home with the continuous efforts of the Bangladesh Embassy of Libya and the International Organization for Migration (IOM). Among them, 14 were physically ill.
They arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on a Buraq Air flight on Monday morning.
Earlier on Sunday, the Bangladesh Embassy in Libya announced their return in a Facebook post.
During the repatriation, the ambassador spoke to the migrants. There, the migrants highlighted their tragic experience of being victims of human trafficking in Libya.
Then, the ambassador urged the returnees to start life with new enthusiasm after returning home. At the same time, he requested them to share their experiences of suffering, torture, human trafficking and the terrible consequences of irregular migration in their respective areas in Libya, so that no one else is encouraged to travel abroad on such risky routes.
Earlier, the embassy was working to repatriate 514 people from the Ganfuda and Tajura detention centers on three more flights this month. These migrants, victims of human trafficking, say that many more will be affected if the issue of traveling to Europe on airport contracts and Umrah visas is not stopped.
