Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has said that the current government has taken over a country in a devastated state.
He added that the nation is heading towards a critical and challenging period, and any careless or light-hearted approach at this time could cause serious damage to the country.
He made the remarks while speaking at a discussion meeting organised by the BNP at the Krishibid Institution in Dhaka on Sunday, marking the 45th death anniversary of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.
Tarique Rahman said that Ziaur Rahman had brought Bangladesh to a stage, through hard work, where people almost identified him with the country itself.
The BNP chairman said Zia had brought significant changes to the nation through hard work and honesty, and that his path should be followed.
Highlighting a decline in social, religious, and family values in the country, he said that instructions have been given to the Ministry of Information and the Ministry of Education to work on how these values can be instilled among children.
