In a show of solidarity with Palestinians, people took to the streets of the capital to participate in the ‘March for Gaza’ that seemed to have merged in Suhrawardy Udyan.
The participants are heading towards Udyan with processions from various areas of the capital, including Paltan intersection, Gulistan Zero Point, Shikkha Bhaban, and so on. These area people are entering the Udyan through the Doyel Chattar gate.
They were seen coming to participate in the program by bus, pickup, rickshaw, on foot, and one person was even seen riding a horse.
In addition, the procession coming from Bangla Motor is entering Suhrawardy Udyan through Shahbagh and Ramna Gate, the procession from Kakrail intersection through Engineers Institute Gate, the procession from Bakshibazar intersection through TSC Gate, and the procession from Nilkhet intersection through TSC Gate.
The organizers said that a declaration in Bangla, English and Arabic will be read from the stage expressing solidarity with Palestine. Later, the event will end with prayers and supplications.
Various political parties, including BNP, National Citizen Party (NCP), Jamaat-e-Islami, Hefazat-e-Islam, AB Party, will join the program.
Party Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed will lead the program on behalf of BNP.
Meanwhile, the Facebook page of the Palestine Solidarity Movement has announced the presence of prominent figures expressing solidarity with the ‘March for Gaza’. Among them are BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed, BJP Chairman Andalib Rahman Partho, Ilias Kanchan, DU VC Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan, Hasnat Abdullah, Mizanur Rahman Azhari, Mahmud Ullah Riyad, Mahmudur Rahman, Mufti Syed Faizul Karim, Sadik Kayem, and Shaikh Ahmadullah.
In addition, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Jamaat Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar, AB Party Chairman Mujibur Rahman Bhuiyan Manju, Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur and others sent their video messages expressing solidarity with the program.
