The United States has welcomed Bangladesh for signing the Artemis Accords.
The US State Department said this in a statement on Thursday local time (US).
On April 8, Bangladesh became the 54th country in the world to sign the Artemis Accords with the US space research agency NASA.
According to a statement published on the US State Department website, Bangladesh became the 54th signatory to the Artemis Accords at the 2025 Investment Summit on April 8. The Secretary of the Ministry of Defense of the country, Mohammad Ashraf Uddin, signed the Artemis Accords on behalf of the Bangladesh government in the presence of US Charge d'Affaires in Bangladesh Tracy Jacobson.
The statement has also said that the United States and Bangladesh have enjoyed a lasting relationship for more than 50 years. We are committed to continuing this relationship with Bangladesh to work for economic development and regional security in the Indo-Pacific region.
The US State Department statement said, "By signing the Artemis Accords, Bangladesh envisions peaceful exploration in space."
The United States launched the Artemis Accords in 2020 with seven partner countries. It is a set of practical principles, the goal of which is to conduct responsible and sustainable civilian exploration activities in space.
Currently, the agreement includes 53 other countries, including Bangladesh. These include Australia, Canada, India, Japan, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Ukraine, Thailand, Switzerland, and Brazil. In addition, there are many other countries. The US Department of State and NASA provide the main leadership in the implementation of this agreement.
