Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Mohammad Jahangir Alam Chowdhury visited the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka Cantonment on Sunday morning to see the child who was a victim of rape in Magura.
The adviser inquired about the child's treatment and instructed the hospital authorities to ensure the best medical care. Senior officials from the CMH were present during the visit.
Regarding the incident, the home adviser stated that the Ministry of Home Affairs is committed to ensuring that the perpetrators do not escape punishment.
Earlier, on the day of the incident (March 6), the adviser called the child’s mother to inquire about the child’s well-being and assured her that the government would provide the highest level of medical care to her child.
On Saturday, the child was transferred from Dhaka Medical College Hospital to the CMH in Dhaka for advanced treatment.
The adviser said, “I have instructed the law enforcement agencies to take a firm stance against harassment and rape of women. I have directed to make a list of all instances of violence against women and submit a report to the court after a swift investigation.”
He further stated, “Those involved in recent incidents of rape will be brought to justice and subjected to severe punishment.”
He also assured that women will be able to perform their duties both at home and in public without fear or obstruction. "Anyone who attempts to create obstacles or engage in violence against them will be brought under the law. No leniency will be shown in this regard," he added.
