"If we see even a hint of negligence in the trial of the July-August massacre, the students and the mass public will again take the streets with a bang like Abu Sayeed and like Mir Mugdho," said Mir Mahbubur Rahman Snigdha, CEO of the July Shaheed Smriti Foundation.
He said this at a program of providing financial assistance to the victims of the July-August uprising organized by the July Shaheed Smriti Foundation with the support of the Cox's Bazar district administration on Thursday afternoon.
The program was organized under the title 'Bangladesh by the side of the wounded soldiers' at the Cox's Bazar Cultural Center auditorium. In it, checks of Tk 5 lakh were handed over to the family of martyred Chhatra Dal leader Nurul Amin of East Ghazalia area of Eidgaon upazila of Cox's Bazar and Tk 1 lakh to 47 wounded soldiers of the district.
Mir Mahbubur Rahman Snigdha, referring to the injured and martyrs in the July-August movement, said, "It is not possible to repay the sacrifices of the martyrs and injured in the movement in any way. Not everyone has the courage to sacrifice for the country. The July Shaheed Smriti Foundation will always be by their side."
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin said, "The injured and martyred families in Cox's Bazar are currently living in great hardship. The administration is standing by them as much as possible. It has also provided assistance to the families of these brave fighters in the past, including providing Ramadan greetings."
At the beginning of the ceremony, a minute of silence silence was observed to remember the martyrs and pay respect to the injured in the movement. Those concerned of the July Shaheed Smriti Foundation said that 4 were martyred and 82 people were injured in the movement in Cox's Bazar district. The documents of 62 of the injured have been verified.
