Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam said efforts are being made to bring guilty police members under trial and remove them to restore the police force to its glory and make it acceptable to the people.
He also said, “We are trying to bring guilty ones who were involved in the police force after August 5 under trial and remove them. We want to restore the forces ‘glory, make it functional and make the police acceptable to the people again.”
The IGP said this at a workshop on 'Enforcement of the law with emphasis on human rights and the environment in the changing situation of the country' at the divisional commissioner's office in Rangpur on Thursday afternoon.
Attorney general Md. Asaduzzaman, chief prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal Mohammad Tajul Islam were special guests at the workshop, chaired by senior secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Nasimul Gani.
The workshop was attended by judges, public prosecutors, DIGs, police commissioners, deputy commissioners, police superintendents, upazila officers-in-charge (UNOs), and field administration officials from eight districts of the division.
