BNP Vice Chairman and former minister Abdullah Al Noman died early on Tuesday.
He breathed his last at 6:00 am in a private hospital in the capital. The information has been confirmed by the BNP Chairperson's media cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan, according to local media reports.
Shayrul said that Abdullah Al Noman suddenly fell ill at his residence in Dhanmondi early this morning. He was immediately taken to Square Hospital, where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.
Abdullah Al Noman was first elected as an MP from Kotwali, Chattogram, in 1991. He served as the Minister of Fisheries and Livestock and later as the Minister of Food. Noman began his political journey in the 1960s, joining the Student Union and later engaging in workers' politics under Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani.
He was active in NAP and joined the Liberation War in 1971. After Ziaur Rahman founded the BNP in 1981, Noman joined the party and was elected MP several times from Raozan and Kotwali. He has held various ministerial positions in the BNP government, including in Food, Fisheries, and Youth & Sports.
