A draft of the reform issues has been prepared based on the initial draft of the code of conduct of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) and the proposals of students and student-organizations.
The university administration has said that the roadmap for the elections may be announced in mid-March.
University's vice-chancellor professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan and proctor Saifuddin Ahmed said this while talking to the 'United DUCSU Movement' platform at the university's Abdul Matin Chowdhury Virtual Classroom on Tuesday
The VC said, “In the changed context, a new structure has to be fixed for every issue. Many places are in disarray. The big obstacle in the DUCSU elections was the objections to the Awami League syndicate members. It has been restructured after much effort. The restructured syndicate will hold its first meeting today. 291 agenda items will be discussed in this meeting.”
He said, “3 committees have been formed very thoughtfully regarding DUCSU. The committees are moving forward with the task very promptly. Yesterday,on Monday, progress of the tasks was sought from all the committees. They will report the progress by tonight or tomorrow afternoon. After they report, we will also inform the students about this progress.”
Regarding the activities of the committee on the code of conduct, the Vice-Chancellor said the initial draft regarding the DUCSU code of conduct has been prepared. This draft will be shown to students and stakeholders online on March 4. Then it will be finalized if it is approved by the syndicate.
Stating that the activities of each committee will be completed very quickly and submitted to the syndicate, vice-chancellor said, “We will organize 3 syndicate meetings in a row next month. We will try to finalize all the activities of DUCSU in the second syndicate.”
“We will finalize the constitution in mid-March and appoint the election commission in a short time. The election commission will fix the voter list with the help of the halls and departments and announce the roadmap,” he added.
